Ladakh was written in the ancient city of Leh, Ladakh at the Himalayan crossroads of Buddhism and Islam. Ben was in the high deserts studying secular nomadic music with a shepherding community in Ladakh’s Changthang region when the song was conceived. The lyrics were later finished on a quaint farm in the foothills of the Catskills, the spiritual capital of the American Northeast.
